In order to strengthen your immune system and for prophylaxis of allergies, you should have products rich in vitamins С and В and of flavonoids (they are a class of plant and fungus secondary metabolites). Calisaya is one of the plants, the richest in flavonoids; it is recommendable to drink calisaya infusion or decoction for prophylaxis, especially if you take antibiotics or other medicines causing allergies.

People who suffer from seasonal allergic rhinitis should start taking calisaya two or three weeks before the season starts when their allergic rhinitis is activated. If during the treatment with calisaya  you do not see any improvement in your condition, or the basic allergic symptoms become acute, you should consult a doctor, preferably an allergologist, especially in the cases when apart from allergy, you have wheezing and difficulty with breathing.

Treatment is with an infusion or a decoction of calisaya, and you should take from them one tea spoonful three times a day one hour before meals for seven days. After a one-week break you can repeat the procedure; however, the dose should be smaller (one tea spoonful two times a day).

If you have allergic rhinitis, you should make inhalations. Put one table spoonful of the crumbled dry herb (calisaya) in hot water and inhale the steam for two or three minutes.

If your nasal mucosa is inflamed, put calisaya oil or gently rub your nose with a cotton swab dipped in a decoction or an infusion of the plant. During the treatment with calisaya do not eat fried, smoked and spicy foods, and do not drink alcohol.
