Basket Plant (Callisia fragrans) Decoction

Basket plant Decoction

The Basket plant decoction (Callisia fragrans) is used for treatment of liver and gastro-intestinal diseases, for prevention of colds and the flu, as well as for overall detoxification of the body. The decoction is also suitable for treatment of allergies and skin conditions. To prepare the decoction you can use all green parts of the plant – leaves, stems, new shoots.

Recipe 1

 Chop the basket plant leaves and stems finely and place them in an enameled cooking pot, then pour cold water over them. Place the pot on the hot plate and bring to a boil (without bubbling), then remove from the hot plate and let soak for 6-7 hours. Strain the decoction; pour it into a bottle made from dark glass and store it in the fridge.

 This decoction is suitable for liver, gastro-intestinal or skin diseases, allergies, prevention of colds and cleansing of the body.

 Recipe 2

 Chop finely 20-30 trailing stem chunks from basket plant, pour some hot water over them and place the pot on the hot plate, then bring to a boil. Remove from the fire and let steep for 10 hours. Strain the decoction and pour it into a dark-glass bottle. Keep refrigerated.

 Recipe 3

(concentrated decoction)

 Stems, leaves and trailing stem chunks are chopped finely. Place the raw plants in an enameled or ceramic pot and pour over boiling water at a ratio of 10 parts of water to 1 part of the herb. Place the pot in a water bath (put it in a larger vessel with boiling water) and let simmer for 20-30 minutes. Remove from the fire and allow to cool. Strain the decoction through a piece of gauze and pour it into dark-glass bottles. Restore the original volume of the liquid by adding some boiled water.

 Recipe 4

 Chop finely one basket plant leaf, long approximately 20 cm, pour 1 l of boiling water over it in an enameled cooking pot, cover it with a lid and let it simmer on light heat for 5 minutes. Remove from the fire and allow to cool. Drink the concoction warm, taking 50 ml, 3 times a day, before meals.

 Recommended for gastritis and rheumatism.

 Recipe 5

 Take one basket plant leave, approximately 20 cm long or two smaller leaves, Chop the raw plant finely, place it in an enameled pot and pour over 700 ml of boiling water. Boil for 3-5 minutes, cover with a lid and steep for 24 hours. Take 50-70 ml, 3-4 times a day, 40 minutes before eating.

 Recommended for diabetes and gastro-intestinal diseases.

 Recipe 6

 Take one large basket plant leaf, wash it, dry it up, chop it finely and place it into an enameled pot. Pour 1 l of cold water over it and put it on the hot plate. Bring to a boil and let boil for 10-15 minutes. Remove from the fire, cover with a lid and wrap up the pot in a blanket to preserve the heat. Allow the herbs to soak for 4-5 hours. After that strain the decoction, allow it to cool and pour it into a glass or ceramic vessel. Store in a dark and cool place.

 Recipe 7

 Pour 2 l of hot water over 20-30 trailing stem chunks, place the pot on the hot plate, bring it to a boil and let boil for 10-20 minutes. Remove it from the fire and let steep for 7-10 hour. Strain the ready decoction, pour it into a glass or ceramic vessel and store in the fridge.
