Bulgarian Home Remedies For Gingivitis

1.Gums (inflamed) – gargle with a decoction of wild savory, in which 1 pinch of alum is added.

2.Gums (inflamed) – chew 2 times a month for 1 hour a resin from white fir.

3.Gums (bleeding) – Crush the green leaves of sorrel and place them in the mouth covering the gums

4.Gums (bare) – used the fruits of the Paliurusspina-christi (aka Jerusalem Thorn). Take 40 fruits and boil them in 1 l of water and leave till the water is half full. When it cools off, gargle with the liquid few times a day, and massage the gums well after each gargle.

5.Gums (bare) –  pick some flowering purslane (prtulacaoleracea), cut it into small pieces, sprinkle with olive oil and eat it as a salad.

6. Gargle with decoction of   blackberry leaves and roots (they contain tannin, which tightens the gums) or with decoction of 1 table spoonful of young bark of quince tree, cornel and downy oak (Quercus pubescens) and Turkey oak (Quercus cerris).  Put it in 1 l of wine or wine vinegar and boil it for 30 minutes; after they are ready, add a 1/4 tea spoonful of alum. Filter and gargle every morning until your gums tighten.

7. Purulent gums (pyorrhea)

I. In the morning, at noon and in the evening 20 minutes before meals, with a dry bristle brush, brush your teeth with mixеd powder of baked clay, 90 g, and thyme powder, 30 g. After that, massage your gums with your forefinger from tooth to gum, and then round. Rinse with decoction of sage (Salvia officinalis) tea (leaves and blossom), oak leaves, asparagus step (Geum urbanum) (leaves and blossom), camomile (blossom), field horsetail (Equisetum arvense), sumac (Rhus cotinus) (leaves) and Lady’s mantle (Alchemilla vulgaris) (leaves and blossom), 50 g of each. Of that mix take 4 table spoonfuls and put them in 700 ml of boiling water. Boil them on low heat for 10 minutes. When the decoction cools, filter it.

II. After you rinse your mouth, you should take 1 table spoonful of the following mix: put granulated sugar in 500 ml of boiling water, and when it boils again, add 500 g of lemons, cut, squeezed and minced together with the peel and the juice, and the decoction is boiled for 20 more minutes until it looks like jam.

III. Ten minutes after that decoction,  drink 1 small glass of 75 ml decoction of  yellow yarrow (Achillea Clypeolata L), agrimonia, plantain (Plantago maior) (leaves), asparagus step (Geum urbanum), calendula (Calendula officinalis) (leaves and blossom) and Lady’s mantle (Alchemilla vulgaris), 50 g of each. Of that decoction 2 table spoonfuls are put in 500 ml of boiling water, lid tight, on low heat, and boiled for 10 minutes. When it cools, filter.

Inflammation of the Gums and the Oral Cavity

Recipe 1

  1. smoke tree (Rhus cotinus) leaves – 100 g;
  2. sage leaves – 100 g;
  3. oak bark – 50 g;
  4. marigold (Calendula officinalis) flowers – 50 g;
  5. comfrey (Symphytum officinale) root – 30 g;
  6. camomile flowers – 20 g.

Boil 2 tablespoons of the herb mixture in 500 ml of water for 10 minutes. Gargle every 2 hours.

Recipe 2

  1. smoke tree (Rhus cotinus) leaves – 100 g;
  2. oak bark – 100 g;
  3. camomile flowers – 60 g.
