Bulgarian Home Remedies For Boils

  1. Mix 1 teaspoon of sal ammoniac (Ammonium Chloride) with 1 fresh yolk and take in the morning, on an empty stomach. Repeat for at least a week.
  1. Mix 2 tbsp. of honey and sal ammoniac. Spread the mixture over the affected place and wrap with a bandage. Keep for at least 2 hours.

Prepare a mixture from 40 g of wall germander (Teucrium chamaedrys), 30 g of each herb – common agrimony (Agrimonia eupatoria),  field horsetail (Equisetum arvense) and  common nettle leaves (Urtica dioica), 20 g of each of the following – dandelion whole stems (Taraxacum officinale) and flaxseed, 25 g of heartsease whole stems (Viola tricolor) and camomile flowers (Matricaria chamomilla). Boil 2 tbsp. of the herbal mixture in 500 ml of water for 5 minutes. Drink 1 glass of the concoction 4 times a day, before meals.

4. In order to mature the boil quicker, during the day and at night it is covered with hot poultices of linseed, boiled in milk. Before you put the poultice, sprinkle it with 1 tea spoonful of sugar or a mix of honey and linseed oil (from the pharmacy) in a proportion 2/3 of honey and 1/3 of linseed oil. Dip a cotton swab in the mix and put it on the boil. Change it in the morning and in the evening until it heals. Or take a piece of washed calico, spread honey on it and sprinkle it with pounded Sal ammoniac; then put it on the boil. Change it 2-3 times a day.

5.Hot herb poultices help boils and abscesses mature. Make them from marshmallow (Althaea rosea), red elm (Ulmus rubra) and burdock (Lappa minor).

How to prepare a herb poultice

  1. Pour some hot water on 2 table spoonfuls of dry herbs and mix well until it becomes homogeneous.
  2. Add a few drops of lavender, thyme or eucalypt oil. Saturate gauze in the mix and put it on the boil or abscess.
  3. Leave it for about an hour and keep it warm with a hot water bottle.

Cabbage poultices can also pull out the pus. Put cabbage leaves in boiling water for about a minute until they become soft. Leave them to cool and wrap them in gauze. Apply them on the boil and change them every day.

6. Add equal parts оf burdock (Lappa minor) roots and germander (Teucrium chamaedrys) sticks. The quantity is about 50 grams of each herb. Add 20 g of sticklewort (Herba agrimoniae) and camomile (Matricaria chamomilla) blossom each. Take 30 grams of pansy and nettle. Mix, then put two table spoonfuls in half a liter of boiling water. Leave them to boil for five more minutes. After that filter the herbal decoction and drink it four times a day before meals
